Keeper is a former Police horse who is also a bit of a local celebrity in Austin. Keeper spent five years working for the city of Austin where he was featured on CNN multiple times for his roles in riots and protests. Once her retired, he was bought by the officer who rode him, Joanna.
One morning in July, Keeper went into his feeding pen to eat his breakfast. For no apparent reason, he kicked his pen and got a leg stuck in the panel. He started to panic In panicking, he got a front and hind leg caught in the panel. Once he finally calmed down, he was untangled and the vet was called. Once the vet came out, his entire front leg needed to be stitched almost from top to bottom. The back leg was cut in a way that the vet could not stitch it. The vet put a wrap on it and left his owner with a tube of prescription wound cream and a steroid cream.
Joanna knew about Precision PES-Derm and she decided to give it a try. The prescription wound cream was expensive and she wasn’t seeing much of a difference in his injuries. His stitches were healing but the big open wound was not closing and there was some proud flesh forming.
After the first week of using PES-Derm, the difference was noticeable! The proud flesh started healing but more importantly, healthy pink flesh started growing in the wound. Initially the vet recommended alternating the PES-Derm with a steroid cream but the steroid seemed to slow the healing. At that point, Joanna decided to only use the PES-Derm. Once PES-Derm was the only wound care used, the healing really started.
The deep wound was completely closed at this point and the hair was even starting to grow back. The vet was very impressed with the rate of healing, the healthy tissue and the prevention of infection.
